Due to the severity and long-time duration of pain syndrome, patients with osteoarthritis (OA) are forced to take high doses of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for a long-term. Despite the fact, that most of OA affect older people, who also have accompanying pathologies, primarily arterial hypertension (AH), this may contribute to increased risk of complications from cardiovascular system due to creation of pathogenic prerequisites for system coagulation disorders, primarily due to the suppression of the production and operation of prostaglandins and development of negative consequences, including increased risk of thrombosis and bleeding.
Conclusions:
Taking 15 mg of new orodispersable form of meloxicam (Movixicam ®ODT) leads to a significant reduction of pain and improvement of life quality.
During the treatment, adverse effects from the gastrointestinal tract are not defined due to the orodispersable form of medicinal product and minimal impact on gastric mucosa due to the absence of direct contact.
Patients with secondary OA have breach of blood coagulation system indicators on hyper coagulation type, that can increase risk of cardiovascular events appearance and evidences about the fact that these patients are in need of monitoring of these indicators.
Taking of orodispersable form of meloxicam (Movixicam ®ODT) 15 mg 1 once a day within two weeks by patients with OA, causes no significant adverse changes in coagulation parameters, which allows recommending of a long-term use of prescribed therapy in patients with comorbid pathology of cardiovascular system.
Perspectives of further development are connected with the analysis of influence of meloxicam on platelet link of homeostasis in patients with secondary OA.
