Nowadays, osteoarthritis remains the most common form of joint damage and a leading cause of disability in a world. Unfortunately, there are still no radical methods by which it would be possible to stop an "epidemic" of OA and completely cure patients with this disease. In recent decades, an attention of scientists and clinicians has been focused on the possibilities of use of symptomatic or disease-modifying medicines of long duration: medicines that are potentially capable not only to affect symptoms of OA (primarily pain), but also have a long-lasting structural-modifying effect on the articular cartilage. The results of clinical studies, as well as a deep understanding of differences in pharmacokinetics and various chondroprotectors molecules properties, have generated scientific and practical interest in approaches to treatment of joint diseases using a chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine sulfate combination.
